Tough Wood Waste Is Hard on the Wrong Machine

Stumps, roots, brush, logs and contaminated green waste can punish high-speed processing equipment. Oversized material, metal contamination and inconsistent feed can increase wear, create downtime and make it difficult to produce a predictable finished product.

The right shredder needs to do more than reduce size. It needs to keep difficult material moving, tolerate real-world contamination, control the finished product and do it without turning every maintenance interval into a major event.

What Is the Komptech Crambo?

The Komptech Crambo is a slow-speed, dual-shaft industrial shredder designed for wood and green waste. Two low-speed shredding drums pull material into the shredding zone, tear and break it down, then pass it through interchangeable screen baskets that help control the finished product size.

It is also designed to tolerate contamination, reduce fines, limit dust and noise, and simplify routine service access.

The Komptech Crambo Industrial Shredder, with its robust dual-shaft system, represents the pinnacle of shredding performance and eco-friendly, efficient waste management.

Engineered to deliver high-throughput shredding of the toughest wood and organic waste materials while mixing and blending to provide a homogeneous output.

  • Designed to withstand heavy contamination.
  • Low maintenance, fuel consumption and operating costs.

How the Crambo Works

1. MATERIAL

Bulky wood waste, green waste, stumps, logs, pallets, and other woody materials.

Loader or excavators feed the material into the hopper for processing.

2. FEED

Material is fed into the hopper with a loader or excavator.

3. SHREDDING

Counter-rotating, slow-speed, drums with aggressive teeth grip, tear, and break down the material.

4. SINGLE-PASS SIZING / OUTPUT

A screen basket beneath the shredding drums determines the finished particle size. Material remains in the shredding chamber until it’s small enough to pass through the screen.

BUILT TO LAST

Heavy-duty components designed for the toughest conditions.

EASY MAINTENANCE

Service-friendly access means less downtime and lower operating costs.

MAXIMUM VALUE

Turn waste into a valuable resource with a consistant high-quality output.

The Crambo Shredder: A powerhouse of performance and a marvel of user-friendly design.

Operating the Crambo is simplified, thanks to the user-centric design of the Graphical User Interface (GUI), which boasts an intuitive layout, easy-to-read icons and straightforward navigation menus, allowing operators to focus on the task at hand instead of trying to figure out how to use a complicated interface.

But the ease of operation is just one part of the equation. The Komptech Crambo shredder is also designed with serviceability in mind. Its construction allows easy access to essential components, making routine maintenance and service checks a breeze. Whether it’s changing out worn parts or performing software updates, the design minimizes downtime and maximizes efficiency.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Komptech Crambo?

The Komptech Crambo is a low-speed, high-torque, dual-shaft shredder designed for processing difficult wood and green waste. Its counter-rotating shredding drums pull material into the shredding chamber, where it is reduced until it is small enough to pass through the screen baskets beneath the drums.

What materials can a Crambo shred?

The Crambo is designed for bulky and difficult materials such as green waste, branches, logs, stumps, pallets, waste wood and other woody material. Its slow-speed, high-torque shredding system makes it particularly well suited to materials that can be challenging for conventional high-speed grinders.

How does the Crambo control finished particle size?

Interchangeable screen baskets beneath the shredding drums determine the final particle size. Material remains inside the shredding chamber until the rotating teeth reduce it enough to pass through the openings in the screen basket. Once through the screen, the processed material drops onto the discharge conveyor.

Does material need to be recirculated through the Crambo?

No. The Crambo uses a forced-retention system rather than an external recirculation circuit. Oversized material remains inside the shredding chamber until it has been reduced enough to pass through the selected screen basket. Material that passes through the screen is discharged as finished product.

Why does the Crambo use slow-speed shredding?

Slow-speed, high-torque shredding provides the force needed to process bulky wood waste while helping reduce fuel consumption, wear and the generation of fines compared with high-speed processing. It also gives the machine controlled material reduction rather than relying primarily on high rotor speed.

Can the Crambo process stumps and large wood?

Yes. Processing bulky wood, including stumps and large woody material, is one of the applications for which the Crambo’s high-torque shredding system is designed. Actual production depends on factors such as material size, moisture, screen configuration and the desired finished particle size.

Can the finished particle size be changed?

Yes. Different screen baskets can be installed to change the finished product size. Selecting the appropriate screen configuration depends on the feed material, required output and production goals.

How is material loaded into a Crambo?

Material is normally loaded directly into the Crambo’s hopper using a wheel loader or excavator. The large hopper accepts bulky material and feeds it into the counter-rotating shredding drums.

How do I know if a Crambo is the right shredder for my application?

Start with the material rather than the machine. Consider what you’re processing, contamination, feed size, required throughput, desired finished particle size and what will happen to the material after shredding. Foreman can review the application and help determine whether a Crambo or another shredding solution is the better fit.
